part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
Gaius is susceptible to such things!
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
Ahaha. Gaius' mind is a spiral of self-deceit and energy. He is clearly very intelligent and has an amazing capacity to learn and adapt, but he is incredibly neurotic and his thought patterns kind of trip him over when he isn't acually focused on a task. Getting the truth out of him mentally would probably actually be a chore because it's so twisty and denial-y in there, but there are no psychic barriers or whatever, so go for it.
There is a mindlink with an imaginary figure who may create a disturbance, though. Whether you'll be able to see her or not is up to you! I am down for most things, and in general, mind stuff is acceptable.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
Sure. But you will want to tell me ahead of time, because I off-cam Head!Six dialogues a lot, so I'd need to know to write them out.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
Gaius has a lot of feelings. Considering his immaturity and self-centredness, the depth of feeling can probably be surprising. He comes across as high-strung, first and foremost, easily triggered into anxiety or fear or anger, which is something you don't necessarily have to have superpowers to pick up on. Of late, there's a more subdued depression that's blanketed a lot of this, and if one is very astute, it could possibly be detectable that he takes medication to stave it off.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
Gaius has some pretty sordid things in his history and a lot of secrets on the lockdown. I would be interested in these becoming uncovered for the sake of development and drama! So yeah, hey, let's talk it out.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
Gaius Baltar is a white man entering his thirties, with brown eyes and brown hair, which he wears at a vain length. By conventional standards, Gaius is relatively good looking, if you're into reedy flappy-hands nerds, with sharp features and a good smile. He ruins this more than a little with a personality that routinely brings out the weasely qualities of his face; smugness, contempt, and visible anxiety don't become him, but are generally the most common expressions he wears. Very expressive, Gaius sits somewhere between being an exceptional liar and a really bad liar - thoughts and feelings and insincerity can be detected pretty easily, but his talent for talking tends to mitigate this some, and so people just find him vaguely untrustworthy to be around.
He's 5'8" and lacks the musculature to make up for his height and thus is not a particularly physical presence. He trends towards wearing business casual attire, sometimes full suits and ties, but it's a habit over a rule; he can be comfortable in casual clothing too, but has a strong vain streak that moves him to dress nicely more often than not, when he can afford it. Although he doesn't necessarily need to, he sometimes wears prescription glasses in the day to day, especially if he isn't going to be sat at a desk or computer for the day - he is a little short-sighted.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
Nyet.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
Nein.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
I am amenable to injury in general, but if it's severe/crippling, then conversation beforehand would be good. That can include vampires. Feel free to contact me.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
Sure, but let me know so I can stalk. He has no powers for the mimicking.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
His aura would probably be difficult to pick up in that he has a good talent for sinking into the background and going ignored. You should also be able to detect that he is sometimes haunted by a second being.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Yes.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
Yes.
4.) What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Envy, greed, pride.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Yes.
part v.
1.) Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
Yes, any.
2.) Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
Yes.
3.) Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
All topics are fine by me. Gaius' background deals with genocide, so I will try to avoid the topic coming up without warning.
4.) Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?
Non.
